"A Theatrical Gem... beautiful and unforgettable..."
"... one of the most stirring nights of theater in my life..."
"This work deserves a much larger audience. Where to begin: the foreign languages simply blew me away. The joy of the scene which called for these greatly enhanced the power of the ship wreck that followed. The slow motion ship wreck in Act I. The woman clinging to the floating board..
The remarkable way in which only a few actors were able to create a much larger cast of characters, the numerous individual moments where the choices were not pat and predictable -- This company deserves to be swelling with pride."
"One of the best shows I’ve seen in ages; extraordinarily original, wonderful acting, direction and design."

A shipwreck as big as the Titanic, in a space as small as your living room.
I Wish You A Boat was originally created in our New York City studio and in 2006 received two nominations from New York Innovative Theatre Awards for outstanding acting. The show has recently been re-worked for new performances in Philadelphia and Melbourne, Australia.
With its enchanting musical score and stirring accounts from actual shipwreck survivors, I Wish You A Boat is performed with both tenderness and nerve. Audiences beware -- the second act requires a strong heart and is best reserved for theatregoers over 13 years of age!

Our multi-media performance piece, Almost Home, pays tribute to worldwide victims of recent tsunamis and floods. Built from pieces of poetry, prose and primary source material, the production also includes music by Austin, Texas' gritty and graceful Jean Synodinos and Across the Universe chanteuse, Dana Fuchs .
While the show revisits moments of heartbreak, it also provides solace. It is our pleasure to honor the strength and resilience of survivors and applaud the generosity and national pride of volunteers who came to their rescue.
In 2005, the Ward Studio established its Company Program, offering opportunities for its finest graduates to work as an ensemble, becoming collaborators in the creation of original work. In its first season, the Ward Studio Company received two nominations for Outstanding Acting from New York Innovative Theatre Awards and became renowned for telling big stories in small spaces.
This year's company boasts membership from the US, Australia, Germany, and Macedonia.
Their work has been described as “movies on stage,” in reference to their particular ability to perform with stark authenticity and an extraordinary esprit de corps.

How you can help.
We open in Philadelphia Thanksgiving weekend. Pay tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Ike and those along the Mississippi and in the midwest who have lost their homes.
Bring this show to Australia by contributing to our operating budget for 2012. After all, transportation to Australia and venue hires are expensive!
Help us provide ongoing flood relief through our benefit performances of Almost Home .
Your donation will help us build a strong advertising budget so that local communities will know about our campaign. The more tickets we sell, the more aid we can provide, but we need to fill our seats!
If you know other ways you can help, please let us know by contacting us.

Running an international company that produces work on two continents has a very particular set of challenges. For the Ward Studio Company, the costs associated with travel, venue hire, props & costumes, accent & language coaches, building the set in the US and then rebuilding our set once we get to Australia are astronomical.

"I'm not sure I've ever experienced such raw, visceral, and vicarious emotion as I did while watching 'I Wish You A Boat'. This play may redefine the concept of original theater; simply a must see."
"This ensemble piece creatively explores a 19th century shipwreck and the vast difference between the First Class story and the story of those in the steerage: the poor, the immigrants, the 99% if you will. There’s no sentimentality, there’s no “message” per say. There’s story and there’s creative interpretation of human reaction to tragedy, to fear, to injustice, to death, to love. This is an excellent, original piece of theater. Excellent."
" Wendy Ward masterfully captures you.. the actors are phenomenal… the drowning scene was so real that I found myself holding my breath while they were going under water. You really did a phenomenal job."
"This is the best theatre piece I have ever seen. If you are an actor or a patron of the arts in Philadelphia, please, please do yourself a favor and go see this show. You will be incredibly moved and inspired."
